Khaled Al-Asaad, archeologist and former director of antiquities of Palmyra beheaded by ISIS

Khaled Al-Asaad, archaeologists and an expert on Palmyra, has been beheaded by Isis militants yesterday. He was 83. Al-Asaad was director of antiquities at the Unesco World Heritage Site from 1963 to 2003. His body was tied to an ancient column within the archaeological site and the murder has been denounced as a "horrific act" by Unesco.
